Day 1 - After our morning departure we head Northbound to the elegant Tudor town of Shrewsbury and the birthplace of famed Naturalist Charles Darwin. You will have free time to enjoy lunch and explore the town before we continue on to our hotel in Chester.
Day 2 - Today you will have free time to explore the elegant city of Chester and all it has to offer. From its stunning black and white architecture and grand Cathedral to bustling cafe’s, bars and shopping areas - Chester is a city that truly offers something to suit all interests.
Day 3 - Our first stop of the day is the quaint Abbeywood Estate which boasts excellent views of the Utkinton hills and houses 6 Acres of informal and formal Gardens that are all different and distinctive in their own right. You can also enjoy a mid-morning snack or lunch here before we depart for our next port of call - Arley Hall & Gardens. Home to the Viscount Ashbrook, the gardens at Arley have been formed through 250 years of continual development and are regarded as being one of the finest gardens in Europe. The spectacular grounds offer up a treasure trove of floral displays all year round and Arley Hall itself offers the chance to experience living history in one of the most attractive Stately homes in Britain.
Day 4 - Today we journey to Port Sunlight, a charming garden village constructed by Lord Lever in the 19th century to provide housing for the workers at his Soap Factory. The village is now home to a fascinating museum, beautiful architecture, a renowned gallery, stunning parks and offers a multitude of things to see and do.
Day 5 - After our morning departure we travel to Welshpool for a return steam hauled journey through the breathtaking Welsh countryside on the Welshpool & Llanfair light railway. You will also have time to visit the station cafe and shop before we leave and head for home.
